The Oar, named such due to the hundreds of personalized oars that adorn the interior of the restaurant, is an island tradition. Overlooking the marina at the Block Island Boat Basin, between Champlin’s and Payne’s, the Oar is a go-to destination for any vacationer, and most, if not all of the island’s residents. The food is delicious and moderately priced, with a tremendous assortment of items from which to choose. The Oar even has its own sushi bar, where you can order sushi made with fish caught that day. But the splendor of the Oar comes, as most will say, at sunset. Have one of their renowned Mudslides, sit back and take in the colors of the setting sun as it sinks into the ocean before your wondrous eyes.
